Description: The Great Backyard Bird Count is an annual four-day event that engages bird watchers of all ages in counting birds to create a real-time snapshot of where the birds are across the continent and in Hawaii. Anyone can participate, from beginning bird watchers to experts. It takes as little as 15 minutes on one day, or you can count for as long as you like each day of the event. It’s free, fun, and easy—and it helps the birds.

Thursday, February 18th is Audubon Day and admission is FREE!
Friday through Sunday, admission is $10 at the door. Children, ages 12 and under are admitted free.

Creating a Balanced Pond

Description: This class is being held at the Morris Arboretum. George has been ask to be a guest instructor for the second year in a row.
Class Description:
A pond can enhance your backyard living space and provide your family with endless enjoyment. This class will provide information
to help you create, maintain and, most importantly, enjoy a beautiful pond. The instructor, George Mihalchick owner of Aquatic Connections, will cover how to construct a pond
that looks natural and fits attractively into your landscape. He will review pond shapes, the creation of shelves to vary water depth,and how to provide proper water flow and filtration. Plant selection and care will be considered as well as the importance of creating a balance between the number of plants and fish. Other interesting water feature ideas will be covered including bog gardens and waterfalls without ponds.
